Recovery & Recycling

The next step is recovering pure or nearly pure PVC material ready for recycling. It involves grinding the sorted waste and removing steel, iron, non-ferrous metals and other undesirable contaminants. The recovered PVC material is afterwards conditioned for transport and sent to a specialised operator for reprocessing into a ready-to-use feedstock.

In practice, one business may perform several functions in the waste and recycling pipeline: the "recoverer" may or may not be the same operator as the "sorter" or as the "recycler." The "collector" may also act as a "sorter."
